This type of external corrosion is very hazardous. It can be dangerous to remove because the remaining ligament is not visible and the height of corrosion is not always correlated with wall loss.

We are introducing a new solution for scab assessment, the PECH-HR, a patent-pending high-resolution probe. It utilizes an array of dual sensors to achieve a spatial triangulation.
These new capabilities enable the probe to find smaller flaws without surface preparation. It gives the best estimation of the remaining ligament under scale corrosion and performs while the asset is in-service.
The PECH-HR probe is another extension to the extensive family of Lyft pulsed eddy current (PEC) probes. The package includes a unique semi-rigid scab mat allowing a constant liftoff during real-time processing acquisition. It also comes with the standard encoder and a grid-as-u-go™ improving productivity.
Reporting is the final and most critical step of the inspection process. It provides the asset owner with the only tangible output of an inspection, yet this step is often deemed time-consuming and neglected.
