We're all looking for the same things: DEFECTS

Regardless of what NDT technique is employed, we share a common goal of uncovering otherwise hidden flaws in assets and components to help assist with better decisions related to quality assurance, maintenance, and replacement.

Confidence: Being able to trust the tools of your trade.

At the end of the day when you sign off on that final inspection report for the asset owner, you need to have complete confidence that your tools delivered the most accurate data results. NDT inspections play a direct role in everyone's life, everywhere we are, and on most everything with great impact on human activities. More importantly, NDT workers are essential: they are the ones providing the whole picture on assets' safety and integrity.

Advances in the NDT industry are empowering inspectors to collect highly reliable data. As creatures of habit, we naturally want to resist change. It's intimidating and uncomfortable …until you see the direct and immediate benefits afforded by industry leaders dedicated to understanding exactly what you need to get the job done effectively, efficiently, every time.

Whether you're looking for high temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA) cracking in industrial pipework at a plant or determining if the level of corrosion found inside a storage tank is within an accepted range, detecting these defects is important... being able to precisely characterize them is the game changer.

How software makes a difference.

When choosing the best instrument for your needs, hardware isn't the only contributor to confidence in your inspection. When your software or technique is outdated and clumsy, it can consume valuable time otherwise spent on another project or job.

Software can undoubtedly throw a learning curve when expanding your new technique horizons. Finding an intuitive and plug-and-play complete solution with an easily understood interface offers tangible benefits when investing in a new tool. You should ask yourself these top 7 questions when shopping for a new instrument to make an informed decision.

See the difference that software can really make for faster and better inspections here.

Check out the Eddyfi on Demand for convenient ways to improve your NDT knowledge on some of the below most common NDT techniques

  • Intro to Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
  • Intro to Total Focusing Method (TFM)
  • Intro to Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL)
  • Intro to Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM®)
  • Capture Analysis Software (PAUT/TFM/TOFD)
  • Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC)
  • Guided Wave Ultrasonic Testing (GWUT)

The NDT industry is increasingly moving towards digital data. Offering traceability and assurance for inspectors and asset owners alike.

Many older techniques for structural integrity assessments —though trusted and familiar— may not always be the best fit, often requiring considerable manual intervention to document and report findings. Work smarter, not harder, by exploring alternative techniques that are more accessible than you may think and benefit from faster inspections, automatically recorded and auditable data that's easy to interpret.

Here are just a few examples demonstrating exactly that...
